"Les Tertres" Henanbihen 22550, France - Farmhouse in Brittany

A traditional Breton farmhouse surrounded by beautiful French farmland

Rural seclusion

Les Tertres is a traditional farmhouse with granite walls & a slate roof surrounded by farmland just over 1 mile from the village of Henanbihen in Northern Brittany. It is situated at the end of its own private drive of about 100 yards which leads off a quiet country road.

Accessible local facilities:

Henanbihen, though small, is a well resourced French village, with a butcher, two bakers, a small supermarket (always with fresh vegetables and often with fresh milk!), a pharmacy, health centre (doctor & dentist!), a florist and a church and school which together can give rise to local festivities. Matignon the local market town is about 5 miles away and has a large supermarket (SuperU), a wider range of shops, restaurants and a weekly market. All these facilities are replicated in the fishing port and resort of Erquy which is a similar distance from Les Tertres.

Ideally situated for exploring and enjoying the Emerald coast- The magnificent North Brittany beaches of Sables-d'Or-les Pins, Carouel (Erquy), and also the beautiful and imposing coast of the Cap Frehel and Fort la Latte area are all less than 5 miles away. The larger resorts of St Cast le Guildo and le Val Andre with their choice beaches are about half an hours drive away. St. Malo is about a 40 minute drive to the East, and the fascinating medieval town of Dinan is also about a 40 minute drive.

The hot water is provided by a gas fired boiler in the kitchen and for the colder months radiator central heating is available throughout the house.

Outside the house

There is parking for several cars as well as a hard gravel area for sitting outside and a brick built barbecue. There are lovely views east and south from here. There is about half an acre of garden, mostly grass, partly enclosed by a variety of trees, hedges and low walls, and some of which opens onto farmland. There is an out-building and a garage in which there is kept a garden table with chairs, barbeque equipment, and table tennis table. There are some bicycles for adults as well as a variety of children's bicycles. This is a fantastic cycling area.

Plenty to do and see

Within 5 miles there is a wonderful selection of sandy beaches. There are good modern public tennis courts about 3 miles away, and you can hire equipment for sailing and windsurfing at Erquy. Golf is available in the area. There are boat trips on the River Rance which can be taken from either Dinan or St. Malo. Both these historic towns, together with the traditional resort of Dinard, make a fascinating day out. There are fine coastal walks on Cap Frehel, where Fort la Latte is open to the public during the summer months. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, especially for sea food. We provide details of our personal favourites in the welcome pack.
